Overview
We are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to join our team on a 3-month contract. The Upholsterer will be responsible for working on a variety of projects, from reupholstering seats to refurbishing office chairs. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, for a total of 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Reupholstering a range of seating, including chairs, sofas, and office furniture
- Cutting patterns and fabrics to fit specific pieces and furniture
- Repairing and refurbishing existing upholstery as needed
- Ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in all upholstery projects
- Collaborating with team members to meet project deadlines and client requirements
- Adhering to safety protocols and best practices in upholstery techniques
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Upholsterer or similar role
- Proficiency in cutting patterns and working with various fabrics
- Knowledge of different upholstery materials and their best uses
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting and manoeuvring furniture
Day-to-day
- Reviewing project requirements and materials needed
- Measuring, cutting, and fitting upholstery materials
- Communicating with team members and supervisors to coordinate work flow
- Performing upholstery work on a variety of furniture pieces
- Ensuring a clean and organised work space
- Following safety procedures and guidelines to prevent workplace accidents
